Collaborators and Sub-contractors

When designing your proposal it is important to think about the relationships between the Institutions you propose to work with:

Collaborators

  • Named in application to funder
  • Will have an input into the research
  • Costs are in line with the funders rules
  • Tied into terms and conditions of funders
  • Entitled to publish
  • Entitled to share IP and results

Subcontractors

  • Not named in application to funder
  • Will not have an input into the research
  • Costs are dictated by the subcontractor’s rules
  • Paid on deliverables on a fixed price basis (whether we receive payment from funder or not)
  • Not entitled to publish
  • Not entitled to share IP or results

It is important to distinguish the relationship between external institutions at the application stage as the appropriate agreements will need to be put in place by the NJRO when awarded.
