Celebrating Success: Dr Lana Liu & Dr Ying Yang

Congratulations to Lana and Ying on the acceptance of their paper “Application of the quick scan audit methodology in an industrial filter production process” to Production Planning & Control.

This is a joint interdisciplinary work between Dr Yang (Operations management) and Dr Liu (Contemporary Management Accounting Technique). This study extends the existing knowledge on Quick Scan Audit Methodology (an established investigative tool to assess health of business processes and supply chains within short schedules) by applying it into the precision mechanical engineering industry, where managers are pressured to reduce an industrial filter production lead time. The QSAM resulted in the development of a set of improvement strategies. A simulation model, which is used to test the potential benefits of changing scheduling activities, is also used as a communication means to increase employee participation in the QSAM process and enhance audit accuracy.
