First EU Digital Europe Calls Open to Applications
Digital Europe is the first European Union programme that aims to accelerate the recovery and drive the digital transformation of Europe. Worth a total of €7.6 billion, the Programme is a part of the current long-term EU budget for 2021 to 2027. It will provide funding for projects in five crucial areas: supercomputing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, advanced digital skills, and ensuring the wide use of digital technologies across the economy and society.
The European Commission has confirmed that the first Digital Europe calls for proposals are now open to applications. Over €415 million is available for projects in cloud to edge infrastructure, data spaces, artificial intelligence (AI), quantum communication infrastructure, in advancing people’s digital skills, and other projects promoting a safer internet, fight child sexual abuse, and disinformation, until the end of 2022.
The first call for proposals also include funding for the set-up and deployment of the European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) network. These hubs will support private companies, including SMEs and start-ups, and the public sector in their digital transformation.
Applications to the Digital Europe calls are open until 22 February 2022 (17:00 CET).
