Workshop: Research Impact – an Introduction (several dates available)
This interactive in-person workshop provides a general introduction to research impact. It’s aimed at academic colleagues in HaSS (of all career stages) who would like to understand what impact is, how it’s different to engagement, how to begin to think about developing impact from their own research, and what support is available. No prior knowledge is required.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the workshop participants will be able to:
- Understand what impact is and why it’s important
- Understand the difference between impact and engagement and the links between them
- Understand what pathways to impact are
- Identify the types of impact their own research might have
- Understand how to begin developing a Personal Impact Plan
- Identify what support is available
Outline Programme
The workshop programme is as follows:
- Introduction to impact
- Introduction to pathways to impact
- Introduction to the Personal Impact Plan
- Group exercise and discussion
- Outline of the support available
- Supported writing or reflection time (optional): for those who’d like some time to begin reflecting on or developing their Personal Impact Plan
