NU Networks: Call for Chairs/Co-Chairs, deadline 24th April
NU Women, NU Parents and NU Carers have vacancies for Chairs or Co-Chairs from this summer. These roles are supported by the University EDI Team and they provide opportunities for colleagues to gain hands-on experience of leadership for diverse audiences, to work on EDI issues, and intersectionality in higher education. Find out more about each network and how to join.
Further information about the roles and what’s expected. Please email your expression of interest (max. 1000 words) by Monday 24 April, 5pm to Eleanor Farrington, EDI Advisor. This should include why you are interested in this opportunity, and information about your skills and experience that make you suitable for the role.
NU Race, injustice, intersectionality and protest event, 27th April
This event has been organised by Newcastle University students to raise awareness of and initiate thought-provoking conversations about topical issues that concern race and intersectionality. Actor Kema Sikazwe, who goes by the stage name Kema Kay; equalities activist Dr. Beverley Prevatt-Goldstein, and civil rights activist Parisa Panahi will be in attendance, with educational and inclusive activities running throughout the day at the Hadrian Building, King’s Walk.

British Academy of Management Women in Academia Webinar, 9th May, 12-1.30pm
The webinar aims to stimulate a conversation among women at different stages of their careers and share with the community insight on how to build research trajectories and deal with challenges associated with this. The panellists will share their experience on these aspects and more to help other women in developing their careers in academia.
New Research Published: Women in UK Finance
