EDI Update: June 2023

A graphic based image which reads: EDI Update. An illustration of four puzzle pieces fitting together is also on the image.

This update focuses on a range of resources and events in support of EDI in our teaching, research, scholarship, student experience and support.

LinkedIn Learning

Many thanks to David Grundy for sharing the summary of materials available through LinkedIn Learning. This rich repository of material can support teaching across a range of topics. David continues to lobby the University to gain access for all our students (at present only Business School students can log in directly to these resources), but in the meantime, the materials could also be used in class with all students.

Open access chapters and articles around EDI topics

Bristol University Press has compiled a list of open-access chapters and articles around EDI topics – these include social science texts as well as materials more specifically around business school topics.

University toolkit for EDI and research

I shared the ‘beta’ version of the new University toolkit for EDI and research at the Festival last week. It will go live in the coming weeks.

Event: Decolonising Research – A Debate

Oxford Brookes University’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Research Network (EDIN), is hosting ‘Decolonising Research – A Debate’, which will take place on Wednesday, 14th June 2023, 17:00-18:30.

The debate explores decolonising research, unveiling perspectives, and challenging paradigms for a more inclusive future in higher education. This event looks at how the process and conceptualisation of ‘decolonising’ might be mobilised in academic research. The aim of the debate is to create a critical lens to the theory and experiences of decolonising research by exploring the importance, impacts, academic privileges and barriers.
