- Attend a Research Retreat
Do you need to put some time aside for an upcoming deadline? Do you have an important piece of work that keeps sliding down the to-do list? Why not try some dedicated time and space away from the day-to-day and take part in a Research Retreat!
Emerging from Research Culture Top Priority Project Releasing Quality Time, the next instalment of Research Retreats are now live. Running from January to July 2025, retreats are open to all those that enable, support or deliver research and/or research-led education (Professional Services colleagues, Postgraduate Researchers, Researchers and Academics).
Research Retreats are suitable for any colleague or postgraduate researcher that would benefit from a quiet, supportive environment to focus on their own research-related work away from their usual day-to-day activity. Previous retreat participants have worked on website updates, reading, strategic planning, blogs, academic papers, thesis chapters or funding applications (these are just ideas and not requirements).
Retreat spaces will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can find more information on the Research Retreat SharePoint pages (Research Culture) or you can register for a retreat here.
- Organise your own Research Retreat
If you are interested in organising your own retreat activity for a group, you can find lots of useful information in our new Research Retreat Resources pack at the bottom of the Research Retreat SharePoint page. This pack has been created from the information and valuable feedback of retreat attendees and the wider community. We intend for this resources pack to grow over time enabling us to better provide for the diverse research community at Newcastle. If you have any questions or resources that you would like to incorporate, please contact Nicola Simcock (Nicola.simcock@ncl.ac.uk)
