Environmental Geosciences research event
The event aims to bringing together researchers from across the SAGE and HASS faculties who work within the theme of Environmental Geosciences. Specifically, we’re aiming to:
- Develop new and existing contacts.
- Identify common research themes and ideas, with the eventual aim of developing joint funding bids.
- Map onto the current funding landscape in environmental science and share experience around core funders.
If successful this year, we plan to make this an annual event, as there is a lot of common research ground in environmental science between SAGE and HASS, which warrants building ongoing links and enabling continuing discussions.
The outline agenda is as follows:
10.00-10.30 – Introduction. Overview of the day and introduction of Environmental Biosystems theme in SAGE, by SAGE Research Dean Rich Dawson.
10.30-11.30: Panel discussion of funding experiences across different disciplines / funders, including interdisciplinary work.
11.30-11.45: coffee break
11.45 -12.30 – Landscape of research funding in environmental sciences, delivered by HASS, SAGE and international research teams, with Q and A.
12.30-13.30 – lunch
13.30-14.30 – small group discussion session, focused around key research themes, to develop networks and ideas.
14.30-15.00 – wrap, next steps and close.
15.00-15.30 – optional extra session, focused on developing options for the new MSc in Data Science.
