CRoSS-Getting People’s attention’ training workshop
As part of the ESRCs Commercialising Research out of Social Sciences Programme we have been working on; the Faculty will be running a training workshop on 31st January (2-4pm) titled ‘Getting People’s attention’ this two-hour workshop is designed for researchers who are interested in developing their research in more business focussed environments but need guidance in how you go about making a strong pitch to external partners.
Laura Bond an external consultant who has worked with the Newcastle University over a number of years has a wealth of expertise working with the private, public and VCSE sectors in Business Planning, Management, Investments, start-ups; will facilitate this discussion and cover the following topics:
- When you meet external partners, how do you present your opportunity in a way that resonates with them?
- In person, online, by email, what is your message, how to make it compelling, developing your pitch?
- How to get it out there?
- What to do if you get knocked back?
- Turning a no into a yes?
- being objective, what is the data telling you?
To make this event as interactive and collaborative as possible, we ask you bring along with you a project idea so we can discuss as a group.
