Abstract
This paper argues a broader conceptualisation of class that engages with the territorial resistance of indigenous, riverine and agrarian communities, whose defence of distinct livelihoods impedes both local and corporate speculation and appropriation. The resultant invasions, violent threats and conflict underpin the advancement of primary commodity extraction that is linked to globalised commodity chains via opaque mediations between informal and formalised strategies of value creation.
