Do you work in research? Then keep an eye out for an upcoming important email regarding ORCiD.
Why
As part of Newcastle University’s commitment to making sure our researcher’s work is properly recognised and visible, we are taking part in a process to confirm applicable employment affiliations on ORCiD records. If you work in research, you will soon receive an email from ORCiD asking you to confirm information that we have asked to be added to your individual ORCiD profile.
This action is a way to increase efficiency and confidence levels of the credentialing process on ORCiD profiles.
How
The email will provide a link, once you click on it you will be redirected to a screen to sign in or register. If you have previously granted Newcastle University, as an institution, permission to update your ORCiD record, you will not need to take any further action. Otherwise, after signing into ORCiD or creating a new account, you will be presented with a screen prompting you to grant your institution permission to update your ORCiD record. You can then click authorise or deny. Please click authorise and your ORCiD record will be updated with affiliation information provided by Newcastle University within minutes.
Note: if you already have an ORCiD the email will be sent to the primary email address you have on your ORCiD account. Depending on your notification settings, this may not come through straight away. You can log into your ORCiD account to check for the notification. If you do not already have an ORCiD, the email will be sent to your Newcastle University email address.
When
The email will be sent on 24th September. When it is received, please take a few minutes to authorise the update to your ORCiD profile.
