Research Culture Cafes are back!
Each month, we’ll be hosting an open-to-all Research Culture Café as an opportunity to chat about all things ‘research culture’ and the work happening across the University. This year we are doing things a bit differently and partnering with FMS, HaSS and SAgE to discuss issues that are relevant to our research communities in the faculties.
Research Culture Cafes are open to every member of the Research community – all those that deliver, enable, support and promote our research and research-led education (Professional Services colleagues, Academics, Researchers and Postgraduate Researchers). The cafes are informal events with plenty of time to chat to the team, other colleagues and PGRs – all welcome! Drop in when you can and leave when you need to, we’d love to hear what’s happening in your area, what you’re involved in and any changes you are seeing at Newcastle?
Note, days and times of café events may vary throughout the year.
November 27th: RC Cafe: Open Research, Open Access and Open Data
In-person, 11am – 12.30pm, The Boiler House
We have partnered with FMS for November’s Research Culture Café and are focussed on timely questions around good research practice, open research and open data. These themes have been highlighted by NUBI members (Biosciences Institute) and we want to use the RC Café to broaden those discussions out to the rest of our research community (all welcome!). In addition to welcoming a new Associate Dean for Good Research Practice (Natasha Mauthner, see NUConnections welcome article here), the Research Culture Team also have a project focussed on Open Research as a Top Priority within the Research Culture Programme.
Come along in November to meet the project team, find out more about open research practices and how this influences the research culture here at Newcastle.
