Responsible Metrics Special Interest Group
We are excited to announce that we are expanding our Responsible Metrics Special Interest Group (SIG) and are now recruiting academic members! This is a fantastic opportunity for those with an interest in the responsible use of research metrics to join a dynamic group that has previously been composed solely of professional service members. As this crucial workstream continues to develop we’re keen to get the input of the academic research community on something that has direct impact on how your work is evaluated.
About the SIG: The Responsible Metrics SIG provides a platform for colleagues to connect, share information and good practices, and create a transparent and supportive structure. This group is beneficial for both those working within the specialism and those looking to increase their knowledge.
Meeting Details:
- Frequency: Every two months
- Duration: 1 hour
- Platform: Microsoft Teams
Our Objective: Research assessment at our University occurs at various levels, from Faculty to individual researchers and outputs. The Responsible Metrics SIG aims to identify and promote best practices for responsible research assessment and the use of quantitative indicators. We strive to use fair and transparent mechanisms for monitoring and reporting.
Reporting and Progress: The SIG will regularly report its progress to the Associate Dean of Good Research Practice. Research Integrity has recently become the sixth top priority project of the Research Culture Development programme. One of the main focus areas of this project is the responsible use of research metrics and the implementation of an accompanying action plan.
Why Join?
- Connect: Network with colleagues across the University.
- Learn: Gain insights into best practices for research metrics.
- Contribute: Help shape the future of responsible research assessment.
If you are passionate about responsible research metrics and want to be part of a supportive and forward-thinking group, we encourage you to join us!
