Abstract:
This presentation reflects on my recent success in securing a British Academy/Leverhulme Research Grant as an early career researcher. I will share insights into the application process, highlighting strategies that strengthened my proposal, the challenges encountered, and the support mechanisms that proved valuable. The session will also distill key takeaways for early career academics seeking external funding, including aligning projects with funder priorities, articulating impact, and managing the balance between ambition and feasibility. The aim is to provide practical guidance and encouragement for early career academics navigating their own grant journeys.
