Call for Expressions of Interest: Sandpit Event on Global (Dis/Re)Order
We invite colleagues from Law, GPS, and across the HASS Faculty to join us in a Sandpit Event to take place on Wednesday 26th November 14:00-16:00 in the Stephenson Building, Room 1.010 focused on the emerging strategic theme of Global (Dis/Re)Order. This initiative seeks to bring together researchers working on the legal, political, socio-cultural, and spatial challenges posed for example by international fragmentation, illiberalism, conflict, and the shifting boundaries between public and private power.
The event will provide a collaborative space to explore interdisciplinary research streams such as Conflict, Peace, Security and Defence; (Un)Constitutionalisms and Institutional Fragmentations; and Environmental, Sustainability and Societal
Challenges, where we have identified a critical mass of researchers The event though is open to all whose work fits under the broader heading of Global Dis/Re)order as a way of exploring where colleagues’ research interests lie, and what we might have missed, while maintaining the focus on the identified themes above. It will also support the development of a formal research grouping, enhancing visibility and positioning us for major funding opportunities aligned with UKRI, Horizon Europe, and British Academy priorities.
This is a chance to shape a grassroots initiative with strong institutional backing, build cross-disciplinary partnerships, and contribute to a collective response to global disorder. Regardless of the disciplinary perspective you bring to bear on these questions, we welcome your insights and engagement.
Please register your interest by Wednesday 12th November using this link in order to be able to attend (this information is needed to ensure the room is suitable and for the provision of catering). We all look forward to working together to define the future of this exciting research theme.
Best wishes,
Ben Farrand, Jocelyn Mawdsley, and Karenza Moore
