The British Academy Leverhulme Small Research Grants
The British Academy Leverhulme Small Research Grants scheme is now open, with the funder’s deadline for submission set for Wednesday 3 June 2026 at 5.00pm (UK time).
Due to the high number of applications received from the School, we have set internal deadlines to allow us to provide appropriate support
- Expression of Interest: Applicants should submit a project title and a brief outline of the proposed research to nubs.research@newcastle.ac.uk by Thursday 30 April 2026.In addition, a Project Initiation Form must be completed with basic project details (e.g. project dates, collaborators, etc.) Newcastle University & NuTH – Project Initiation Form v2
- First Draft of Costs: A preliminary budget must be submitted by Friday 15 May 2026, allowing sufficient time for review and guidance on any necessary amendments.
Please note that we will be unable to support applications that do not adhere to these internal deadlines.
While the maximum award is £10,000, the scheme is highly competitive. Proposals are reviewed by subject experts, and only those meeting the quality threshold are entered into a random selection process for funding. We strongly encourage interested applicants to engage with us as early as possible to ensure timely and effective support.
