The grants are available to postdoctoral scholars conducting primary research in the humanities and social sciences.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants may seek support for any combination of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Initial project planning and development.<\/li>\n<li>To support the direct costs of research.<\/li>\n<li>To enable the advancement of research through workshops or conferences, or visits by or to partner scholars.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Awards are open to postdoctoral scholars (or equivalent) who are ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>The maximum grant that can be applied for is \u00a310,000 over two years. Applications will not be considered for less than \u00a3500.<\/p>\n<p>Support of up to the overall limit of \u00a310,000 may be sought for any combination of eligible activity including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Project planning and development costs (cost of travel for discussion in the UK and overseas; initial workshops with potential partners).<\/li>\n<li>Travel and maintenance for UK scholars &#8211; including travel to disseminate results of the research at conferences held either in the UK or abroad.<\/li>\n<li>Travel and maintenance for overseas scholars engaged in collaborative research activity with UK partner(s).<\/li>\n<li>Research assistance (based in UK or abroad).<\/li>\n<li>Workshops or conferences to advance the programme of research (principally the costs of travel and maintenance for key participants, though organisational costs may be considered).<\/li>\n<li>Consumables.<\/li>\n<li>Specialist software.<\/li>\n<li>Costs of interpreters in the field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Applications should be submitted online by the deadline of 10 November 2021 (15:00 UK time).<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The British Academy (BA)\/Leverhulme Small Research Grants are provided by the British Academy and, since January 2012, co-sponsored by the Leverhulme Trust.
