The collection box will be in position from <strong>Tuesday 1 March <\/strong>to<strong> Friday 11 March<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Period poverty <\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Periods are a normal part of life but unfortunately \u2018Period poverty&#8217; is very much an issue in the UK*.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 in 10 girls can\u2019t afford to buy menstrual products<\/li>\n<li>1 in 7 girls have struggled to afford them<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>*According to a representative survey of 1,000 girls and young women aged 14-21 by Plan International UK.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Period poverty means being unable to access sanitary products and having a poor knowledge of menstruation often due to financial constraints.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Period poverty can lead to**:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Girls missing a day(s) at school<\/li>\n<li>Girls not being able to pay attention in class<\/li>\n<li>Girls being too embarrassed to for help<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>**\u2019What is period poverty?\u2019 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bodyform.co.uk\/our-world\/period-poverty\/#:~:text=%E2%80%98Period%20poverty%E2%80%99%20means%20being%20unable%20to%20access%20sanitary,young%20women%20aged%2014-21%20by%20Plan%20International%20UK.\">Bodyform<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>There is also a growing number of women who are homeless or using food banks to survive. Food banks are also being relied upon to provide sanitary products for women and families.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Women may need support because***:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They may not be able to afford menstrual products<\/li>\n<li>They may not currently have access to menstrual products<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>***<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"https:\/\/periodpoverty.uk\/\">Period Poverty UK<\/a><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Make a donation of menstrual products<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>We\u2019re asking staff to bring in donations of sanitary products, anything that you can afford, so that we can supply women who are using West End Food Bank.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Collection date:<\/strong> Tuesday 1 March \u2013 Friday 11 March<\/li>\n<li><strong>Location:<\/strong> NUBS Lobby\/Caf\u00e9<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Thank you for your support.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of our activity for International Women\u2019s Day, we are collecting menstrual products for West End Food Bank.
