{"id":13515,"date":"2022-03-31T13:59:28","date_gmt":"2022-03-31T12:59:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microsites.ncl.ac.uk\/nubsstaffblog\/?p=13515"},"modified":"2022-03-31T13:59:28","modified_gmt":"2022-03-31T12:59:28","slug":"launch-of-iuks-farming-innovation-programme-large-rd-partnership-projects-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microsites.ncl.ac.uk\/nubsstaffblog\/2022\/03\/31\/launch-of-iuks-farming-innovation-programme-large-rd-partnership-projects-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"Launch of IUK\u2019s Farming Innovation Programme &#8211; Large R&amp;D Partnership Projects Competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This Innovate UK (IUK) competition has been established to fund industrial research and experimental development projects that will address major on-farm or immediate post farmgate challenges or opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Solutions or project outputs must significantly improve productivity, sustainability and environmental impact of farming, a progression towards net zero emissions\u200b, and resilience.<\/p>\n<p>Projects must address a significant industry challenge or opportunity in at least one of these industry subsectors:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Livestock<\/li>\n<li>Plants<\/li>\n<li>Novel food production systems<\/li>\n<li>Bioeconomy and agroforestry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A total of \u00a38 million has been allocated to this competition. Each project\u2019s total costs must be between \u00a33 million and \u00a35 million.<\/p>\n<p>Businesses within a supply chain are encouraged to come together as a partnership to solve major challenges or opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>The competition is open to collaborations only. A UK registered business of any size must lead a project. They must involve at least one\u00a0micro, small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) and a\u00a0research and technology organisation (RTO). To collaborate with the lead, organisations must be a UK business of any size or a UK registered academic institution, charity, not-for-profit, public sector organisation or RTO.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants must carry out all of the project work in the UK, and intend to exploit the results from or in England.
