{"id":13586,"date":"2022-04-14T15:23:03","date_gmt":"2022-04-14T14:23:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microsites.ncl.ac.uk\/nubsstaffblog\/?p=13586"},"modified":"2022-04-14T15:23:03","modified_gmt":"2022-04-14T14:23:03","slug":"funding-for-projects-to-improve-financial-wellbeing-for-low-income-people-across-the-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microsites.ncl.ac.uk\/nubsstaffblog\/2022\/04\/14\/funding-for-projects-to-improve-financial-wellbeing-for-low-income-people-across-the-uk\/","title":{"rendered":"Funding for Projects to Improve Financial Wellbeing for Low-Income People Across the UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Abrn Financial Fairness Trust, formerly known as the Standard Life Foundation, is offering grants of between \u00a310,000 and \u00a3200,000 for projects and activities that address specific inequalities, differences, and vulnerabilities to improve financial wellbeing, reduce the cost of living, and address issues related to spending and borrowing among low- and middle-income people across the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>The Trust\u2019s grant programme is focused on three areas that in\ufb02uence \ufb01nancial wellbeing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Income:\n<ul>\n<li>Wages.<\/li>\n<li>Social security.<\/li>\n<li>Pensions.<\/li>\n<li>Taxation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Spending:\n<ul>\n<li>Cost of living.<\/li>\n<li>Consumer spending.<\/li>\n<li>Problem gambling.<\/li>\n<li>Borrowing.<\/li>\n<li>Payment problems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Assets:\n<ul>\n<li>General saving.<\/li>\n<li>Retirement saving.<\/li>\n<li>Housing.<\/li>\n<li>Taxation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Projects should aim to aim to create a step-change in policy, practice, attitudes, or behaviour, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Policy work.<\/li>\n<li>Campaigning.<\/li>\n<li>Research.<\/li>\n<li>Public attitudinal work.<\/li>\n<li>Improving practice and design.<\/li>\n<li>Evaluations of existing initiatives that have not been evaluated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Funding can be used for project costs and ongoing costs, including staff salaries and overheads.<\/p>\n<p>The Trust makes between 15 and 20 grants each year, awarding a total of over \u00a32 million. Most funded projects will benefit residents from across the UK, but the Trust is especially keen to support work in Scotland, including UK-wide work that has a Scottish dimension to it.
