{"id":14314,"date":"2022-09-09T12:51:01","date_gmt":"2022-09-09T11:51:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microsites.ncl.ac.uk\/nubsstaffblog\/?p=14314"},"modified":"2022-09-09T12:51:01","modified_gmt":"2022-09-09T11:51:01","slug":"esrc-call-to-use-secondary-data-to-focus-on-global-south-development-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microsites.ncl.ac.uk\/nubsstaffblog\/2022\/09\/09\/esrc-call-to-use-secondary-data-to-focus-on-global-south-development-issues\/","title":{"rendered":"ESRC Call to Use Secondary Data to Focus on Global South Development Issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) has launched a new highlight notice to focus on development issues in low- and middle-income countries in Latin America, Africa and Southeast Asia.<\/p>\n<p>This funding opportunity involves the use of secondary data analysis and is an extension of the ongoing\u00a0Secondary Data Analysis Initiative (SDAI) opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>The aims of this opportunity are to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Co-produce substantive and innovative data research through equitable partnerships with investigators based in the Global South<\/li>\n<li>Utilise existing data resources to produce high quality, impactful research on issues of concern to developing countries<\/li>\n<li>Improve the skills, capacity and methods for secondary data research in and on developing countries<\/li>\n<li>Provide insight into existing data resources that can be used to conduct research on developing countries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This opportunity particularly encourages focus on the following areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Environment, biodiversity and climate change<\/li>\n<li>Building and maintaining effective, democratic and trusted institutions<\/li>\n<li>Economic stability and sustainable growth<\/li>\n<li>Supply chains and food security<\/li>\n<li>Migration, mobility and demographic change<\/li>\n<li>Shocks, risks and resilience<\/li>\n<li>Conflict and violence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All social science disciplines are eligible. ESRC welcome proposals that include disciplines where social science approaches form the dominant part of the proposal.<\/p>\n<p>All proposals will have to make a clear case for how they comply with Official Development Assistance (ODA) guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>Eligible applicants must be an established member of an approved research organisation.<\/p>\n<p>Proposals must comply with Official Development Assistance (ODA) guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>Projects can cost up to \u00a3300,000 at 100% of the full economic cost.
