This week we are highlighting the support available via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/student-financial-support\/\">Student Financial Support.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you find yourself struggling to make ends meet and you\u2019re unable to cover essential, day-to-day living costs, then our Student Finance Advisors can provide:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Professional and impartial advice to all current and perspective students about student funding and finance related matters.<\/li>\n<li>Individual and tailored one-to-one appointments.<\/li>\n<li>Information leaflets and online resources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>They can help you if you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Want help managing your money and planning a budget.<\/li>\n<li>Are struggling to cover all your costs and want to know about the funding you might be eligible to apply for.<\/li>\n<li>Have queries about your statutory funding (student loan and fee loan).<\/li>\n<li>Want information about bursaries, scholarships and other funding schemes.<\/li>\n<li>Need information about a range of student finance related topics such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/student-financial-support\/advice\/banking\/\">student bank accounts,<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/student-financial-support\/advice\/tv-licence\/\">TV licenses<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/student-financial-support\/advice\/council-tax\/\">council tax.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/outlook.office365.com\/owa\/calendar\/FinancialSupportTeam@newcastle.onmicrosoft.com\/bookings\/\">book an online appointment<\/a> directly to meet a Student Finance Adviser. Self-referring appointments are available\u00a0<strong>every Tuesday<\/strong>\u00a0either online (9am to 4pm) or in person in King&#8217;s Gate (1-4pm).<\/p>\n<p>Join over 400 students on their \u2018Money Matters\u2019 course on Canvas by clicking <a href=\"https:\/\/ncl.instructure.com\/enroll\/EFJCGF\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The course isn\u2019t credit bearing and it doesn\u2019t have assessments. It has four modules:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2018How am I going to manage?\u2019 Covers the basics of income and expenditure, including loans and working during your studies.<\/li>\n<li>\u2018Budgeting\u2019 will show you practical examples on how to keep track of your cash.<\/li>\n<li>\u2018Staying safe from fraud\u2019 is about keeping the money where it belongs: with you.<\/li>\n<li>\u2018Money and your wellbeing\u2019 shows you that the benefits of looking after your money goes beyond your wallet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can contact the Student Finance Advisors by emailing <a href=\"mailto:student.fin-support@ncl.ac.uk\">student.fin-support@ncl.ac.uk<\/a> or if your enquiry is urgent you can call 0191 208 2693, 0191 208 7098 or 0191 208 448.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Free-to-use Student Pantry<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can find the new Student Pantry inside the Students&#8217; Union (Ground Floor, next to the Welfare &amp; Advice Hub). All items are free for students, and you are more than welcome to take what you need (you do not need to consult with anyone). We hope that this will provide accessible, stigma-free support to students under financial pressure. All of the items at the Student Pantry are made available through financial support from the University as well as generously donated items from our own Co-Op.<\/p>\n<h3>Wellbeing Support for Business School Students<\/h3>\n<p>The Business School has dedicated health and wellbeing support for our students:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Counselling &#8211; to arrange an assessment, please contact <a href=\"mailto:sws.therapyappointments@ncl.ac.uk\">sws.therapyappointments@ncl.ac.uk<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Disability Support (including Mental Health, long term Physical Health conditions, Specialist Learning) Please contact <a href=\"mailto:disabilityadvisor@ncl.ac.uk\">disabilityadvisor@ncl.ac.uk<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Welfare Support \u2013 <a href=\"mailto:wellbeingconsultancy@ncl.ac.uk\">wellbeingconsultancy@ncl.ac.uk<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Other Sources of Support:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Our Student and Staff Wellbeing Service work with local and national organisations to support you and help you maximise your academic potential and gain the most from your time here at Newcastle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Student Support Plans<\/strong>: If you disclose a long-term mental health condition, supported by recent medical evidence, you may be able to access reasonable adjustments and support to help you engage in your studies.
