It is about commemorating the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women as well as raising awareness about discrimination and taking action to drive gender parity.<\/p>\n<p>The theme for IWD this year is\u00a0<strong>\u2018Embracing Equity\u2019<\/strong>. Equity means creating an inclusive world and we can all play a part.<\/p>\n<p>You can\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.internationalwomensday.com\/Theme\">#EmbraceEquity<\/a>\u00a0by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>sharing the passion and excitement that comes from valuing and supporting difference<\/li>\n<li>reflecting on how we can all be part of the solution,\u00a0not the problem<\/li>\n<li>encouraging your friends, family, colleagues, and community to\u00a0embrace equity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each one of us can actively support and\u00a0embrace equity\u00a0within our own sphere.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.internationalwomensday.com\/Theme\">Learn more about embracing equity.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>How to get involved in International Women\u2019s Day<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Many exciting events are taking place on campus and across Newcastle to celebrate International Women\u2019s Day.
