{"id":15095,"date":"2023-03-15T08:00:57","date_gmt":"2023-03-15T08:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microsites.ncl.ac.uk\/nubsstaffblog\/?p=15095"},"modified":"2023-03-14T16:12:17","modified_gmt":"2023-03-14T16:12:17","slug":"wellbeing-wednesday-university-library-services-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microsites.ncl.ac.uk\/nubsstaffblog\/2023\/03\/15\/wellbeing-wednesday-university-library-services-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Wellbeing Wednesday &#8211; University Library Services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to this edition of the Business School Wellbeing Wednesday Update.\u00a0 We hope you are safe and well.<\/p>\n<p>Each Wednesday (during term time) we will post a staff blog highlighting wellbeing support that is available to Business School students within the School and from across the university to allow staff to pass on the information to students.<\/p>\n<h3>Spotlight on University Library Services<\/h3>\n<p>This week we are highlighting the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/library\/\">University Library<\/a> resources and study support.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Library services will be in the foyer today (15\/03\/2023) from 10.00-12.00 to tell you about the support they offer and answer any questions!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>One-to-one support<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Individual library support is here when you need it!<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0librarians from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/library\/book-appointments\/liaison\/\">Liaison Team\u00a0<\/a>can help you develop your skills in finding, evaluating, managing, and referencing information. They are experts in helping you develop skills to use the Library and information sources effectively and can advise on improving your information search plan. You can contact the team via\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/libhelp.ncl.ac.uk\/\">Library Help<\/a>\u00a0or book a one-to-one appointment to meet in person or online.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Be Well@NCL<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/library\/resources-and-study-support\/be-wellncl\/\">Be well@NCL<\/a> is a collection of tried and tested books, chosen in partnership with the University&#8217;s Student Health and Wellbeing Service and other health professionals. They are available to be borrowed by anyone in the University to help understand and manage their mental health and wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Library book drop off in the FDC foyer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Any long loan Newcastle University Library books can be returned to the drop-off kiosk in the FDC foyer. Simply place your books on the kiosk and wait until they show on screen. Then, place the books in the book bin.<\/p>\n<p>The kiosk will be close at weekends from Friday3.30pm- Monday 9.15am.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Study support<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is a range of support available to help you develop your academic skills, whether you want to learn independently, get\u00a0some expert advice, or join our network of peer mentors.<\/p>\n<p>The Academic Skills team are here to provide help and support with the full range of study skills, from research planning and time management to revision, and drafting and editing your writing (an overview of what they cover can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/academic-skills-kit\/where-to-go-for-support\/academic-skills-team\/\">Academic Skills Kit website<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>You can find business Library resources to support your studies on the <a href=\"https:\/\/libguides.ncl.ac.uk\/business\">Business Subject Guide<\/a> page. The library also has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncl.ac.uk\/library\/resources-and-study-support\/resource-guides\/\">Resource Guides<\/a> to help you find alternative resources such as Newspapers, Government Publications, Conference Proceedings and more.<\/p>\n<h3>Wellbeing Support for Business School Students<\/h3>\n<p>The Business School has dedicated health and wellbeing support for our students:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Counselling &#8211; to arrange an assessment, please contact <a href=\"mailto:sws.therapyappointments@ncl.ac.uk\">sws.therapyappointments@ncl.ac.uk<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Disability Support (including Mental Health, long term Physical Health conditions, Specialist Learning) Please contact <a href=\"mailto:disabilityadvisor@ncl.ac.uk\">disabilityadvisor@ncl.ac.uk<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Welfare Support \u2013 <a href=\"mailto:wellbeingconsultancy@ncl.ac.uk\">wellbeingconsultancy@ncl.ac.uk<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Other Sources of Support:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Our Student and Staff Wellbeing Service work with local and national organisations to support you and help you maximise your academic potential and gain the most from your time here at Newcastle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Student Support Plans<\/strong>: If you disclose a long-term mental health condition, supported by recent medical evidence, you may be able to access reasonable adjustments and support to help you engage in your studies.
