Thinkers will then experience a year of focused activity and development from the BBC and AHRC.<\/p>\n<p>We are looking for applications from a diversity of backgrounds and research disciplines, particularly candidates who can demonstrate:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>how one area of their research could make a strong, clearly expressed and engaging programme for Radio 3, of up to 45 minutes<\/li>\n<li>how this new research could have the potential to either change public opinion, influence policy or make a difference to people\u2019s lives<\/li>\n<li>creativity, originality and the potential to talk and write about other areas within the arts and humanities, in an accessible and interesting manner, particularly to a wider listening audience<\/li>\n<li>that they are comfortable talking and writing about ideas from beyond their own research area, in an accessible and interesting way<\/li>\n<li>a wide range of interests through their review and description of their current research<\/li>\n<li>high standards of scholarship: clear explanations in interesting, well-written, jargon-free language, that is editorially and stylistically suitable for a BBC audience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To get a good idea of what we\u2019re looking for, we recommend you listen to work by previous\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bbc.co.uk%2Fprogrammes%2Fp068n319&amp;data=05%7C01%7CAlison.Brown%40newcastle.ac.uk%7Ccdeaabd97267403096e008db7bd633fd%7C9c5012c9b61644c2a91766814fbe3e87%7C1%7C0%7C638239932136271618%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=l3nEJsK8dpq2nM4vA6TR1wePVhjtYDOElt5%2FcCrdWpE%3D&amp;reserved=0\"><strong>New Generation Thinkers on the BBC website<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0before you apply.
