Sixteen Newcastle University Business School colleagues were recognised at the VC\u2019s Celebrating Success event in December 2024.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The events take place three times a year, led by the University\u2019s Vice Chancellor, Professor Chris Day. They are an opportunity to shine a light on a range of achievements, awards and recognition, and emphasised how much we achieve when we work\u00a0together as one University.<\/p>\n

The event in December saw 16 N colleagues recognised for their hard work and dedication, which is phenomenal.<\/p>\n

Below are the colleagues who were recognised, alongside an overview of why they were recognised. Congratulations to you all!<\/p>\n

Alice Kaniova, Engagement Assistant
\n<\/strong>In recognition of her work on the NUBS Charity of the Year initiative.<\/p>\n

\nIn recognition of her work on the NUBS Charity of the Year initiative.<\/p>\n

Dr Victoria Pagan, Senior Lecturer<\/strong>
\nFor leading the development of the Masters in Management.<\/p>\n

Professor Cristina Neesham, Associate Dean Ethics, Responsibility and Sustainability (ERS)<\/strong>
\nFor leading the development of the MSc Sustainability Management.<\/p>\n

Professor Savvas Papagiannidis, Subject Group Head, Information Systems and Operations<\/strong>
\nFor leading the development of the MSc Business Analytics.<\/p>\n

Professor Stuart Barnes, Subject Group Head, Marketing<\/strong>
\nFor leading the development of the MSc Digital Marketing.<\/p>\n

Professor Bartosz Gebka, Subject Group Head, Finance<\/strong>
\nFor leading the development of the BSc Finance.<\/p>\n

Dr Jiayao Hu, Senior Lecturer in Operations and Supply Chain Management<\/strong>
\nIn recognition of his efforts toward student engagement, programme development, and recruitment.<\/p>\n

Nick Howey, Lecturer in Information Management<\/strong>
\nIn recognition of his efforts to develop new programmes, student recruitment and enhancing student engagement for the MSc Data Analytics DPD role.<\/p>\n

Paul Campbell, Head of Engagement Recruitment and Marketing<\/strong>
\nIn recognition of his contribution to student engagement activities, including the introduction of funded internships with local employers for NUBS students, local and national career treks to targeted industry sectors to enhance employability opportunties, implementation of a funded approach for students to take part in the treks aligning the WP and NUs commitment to social justice and external engagement.<\/p>\n

Professor Abigail Marks, Professor of the Future of Work and Associate Dean of Research<\/strong>
\nIn recognition of her appointment as Facilitator of the Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS) Development Programme for the Directors of Research.<\/p>\n

Dr Emily Yarrow, Senior Lecturer in Management and Organisation<\/strong>
\nIn recognition of her appointment as Vice Chair of the Equality, Diversity, Inclusivity and Respect Committee on the British Academy of Management Council from January 2025.<\/p>\n

Professor Darren Duxbury, Professor of Finance<\/strong>
\nIn recognition of the external recognition of his academic expertise in behavioural finance in general, in particular in payment method behaviour, for which he was invited to join the Bank of England’s Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) Academic Advisory Group (AAG).<\/p>\n

Dr Iftekhar Ahmed, Lecturer in Sustainable Finance<\/strong>
\nIn recognition of the external recognition of his academic expertise, Dr Iftekhar was appointed a Lead Author (Chapter 6) for the Nexus Assessment with the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).<\/p>\n

Dr Vu Trinh, Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance<\/strong>
\nIn recognition of his prolific research agenda, resulting in publication of a multitude of academic papers as well as editing a book (\u201cClimate Governance and Corporate Eco-innovation: A Framework for Sustainable Companies,\u201d published by Springer Nature.), securing grants (eg, The Climate Compatible Growth (CCG) programme\u2019s Flexible Research Fund (FRF), UK Aid).<\/p>\n

Professor Vit Shpachuk, Visiting Professor, Researchers at Risk British Academy’s programme<\/strong>
\nIn recognition of publishing a monograph “Modern Banking and Digitalization. The Impact of FinTech on the Banking Market” (with Dr Vu Trinh).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
