From 2027, the UK\u2019s return to Erasmus+ will reopen significant opportunities for universities and their research communities, enhancing structured European mobility. The programme will be administered in the UK by the British Council, which previously managed thousands of university\u2011led projects. Erasmus+ is expected to support more than 100,000 participants in its first year, strengthening universities\u2019 global engagement, widening participation, and enhancing the international competitiveness of UK higher education.<\/div>\n
2. NEW:<\/b>\u00a0ERC announces changes in its 2027 Work Programme:<\/b>\u00a0https:\/\/erc.europa.eu\/news-events\/news\/applying-erc-grant-2027-competitions-what-you-need-know<\/a><\/div>\n
The ERC has confirmed important changes for researchers applying to ERC grant competitions under the 2027 Work Programme, with calls expected to open between July 2026 and June 2027. The updates include revised eligibility windows for Starting and Consolidator Grants to better reflect varied academic career paths, alongside stricter limits on the number of applications and resubmissions a researcher can make, aimed at reducing pressure on the peer\u2011review system. Applicants will generally be permitted to submit only one proposal under the 2027 programme, face tighter restrictions following unsuccessful applications in recent years, and must ensure proposals are sufficiently mature before submission.<\/div>\n
