This has led to direct conflict and competition for mineral resources. This paper introduces the Salience and Institutional Analysis and Design framework as a means to analyze the MNE strategies used to address informal miners across different governance levels in the\u00a0<a title=\"Learn more about Gold Mining from ScienceDirect's AI-generated Topic Pages\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/economics-econometrics-and-finance\/gold-mining\">gold mining<\/a>\u00a0sector of Ghana and discusses the implications of these strategies for\u00a0<a title=\"Learn more about Sustainability from ScienceDirect's AI-generated Topic Pages\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/economics-econometrics-and-finance\/sustainability\">sustainability<\/a>.
