I remember how daunting the prospect of choosing a university and course can feel. For me, studying geography was a definite. So the only decision that remained was where to study. After numerous open days only one university stood out for me… Newcastle!
It might sound like common sense but choosing a course you are genuinely interested in is key. After all, you will be studying it for three years! For me, Geography at Newcastle offered a great variety of interesting modules – both Human and Physical for those still undecided!
Newcastle also offer fab field trips! From Berlin to Barcelona, Borneo to Iceland there’s a trip that should suit you! What more could you want from a university course?!
Geography at Newcastle has a great scheme where first years are assigned a student mentor from second or third year. These mentors are a point of call for freshers ranging from academic advice to top tips about freshers week. They help to make the transition from home to uni as smooth and as enjoyable as possible!
The Geography staff at Newcastle really stood out to me as being passionate about their subject, interesting and knowledgeable but most of all friendly!
All Geography students will have a Tutor from the academic geography staff who will be there to help academically and pastorally.
Newcastle’s campus always looks stunning- rain or shine! The Student Union is always open and has everything you need from study spaces to Starbucks! You name it Newcastle has got it!
Newcastle is one of my favourite cities in the world! Its got everything a student would need: amazing night life, shops (to spend the student loan on!) plus cultural and historical heritage. But it remains compact so getting around isn’t a fortune.
If you think Newcastle is the uni for you, why not come and visit?
