Winter break is almost upon us and that means most of us will be going home for the holidays! But if you’re one of the ones staying back, fear not as there’s loads to get up to even without the mass of students about town.
As winter break coincides with Christmas, there are tons on Christmassy activities that you can do to pass the time till everyone comes back.

If you’re new to celebrating Christmas or just want something to get you in the festive mood, then head on down to St Thomas Church on the 14th of December for a little university carol service.
You’ll definitely have loads of fun singing Christmas carols and listening to Christmas stories! If you’re feeling charitable, there’ll also be a collection for charity at the event.
Nothing will get you more in the Christmassy mood then a good old screening of It’s A Wonderful Life at the Tyneside Cinema. Screenings are available throughout the month of December but the Student Wellbeing service will be holding their own trip on the 21st of December for the 2.45pm screening.
Even if you’re a newbie at ice skating or a pro, this is something you’ll have to experience at least once if your life.
The price of a student ticket costs £8 and the ice rink will be open every day except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Student Wellbeing will be having their own session on the 23rd of December 6pm for a reduced price of £5.
This is your chance to watch the special Boxing Day NUFC vs. Sheffield football match! For £10 a ticket through Student Wellbeing instead of £31, this is surely a steal!
With performances available almost every single day, you’ll be able to catch this brilliant performance for the price of £13 and up. Go along to this event to experience something totally different! Student Wellbeing will be having a trip to the pantomime on the 28th of December for only £10 a ticket!
