7 Reasons To Attend Our Get Ahead Event

At the start of April, we’re inviting Year 12 students from around the UK to come on campus for our Get Ahead Event.

It’s a new event designed to help you get the skills you need to be successful at school and beyond. But if that’s not a big enough reason to come, here are 7 more reasons why you should come to Get Ahead.

1 – Build the skills to support your A level studies

Do you know much about referencing? Academic note taking? Get more information on these and other important higher education study skills that will help you Get Ahead.

2 – It’s subject specific

Choose the day that is most relevant to the subject area you are interested in. Meet like minded students interested in the same topics as you and leave with a valuable insight into potential degree courses you could study and might not have considered.

3 – Meet academic staff

Speak to real life academics to find out more about your subject area of interest and how many varying degrees are available to study within that area. While finding out how the degrees are taught at university.

Get Ahead will provide you with a rare opportunity to quiz these masterminds outside of the seminar room!

4 – Free food

I don't always go to campus events, but when I do it's for the free food

Pizzas and mocktails are available during the Networking Social giving you the opportunity to put in to practice a vital student survival skill – never refusing free food.

5 – See the campus and accommodation

6 – Network with graduates

Hear first-hand experience straight from the horse’s mouth as members of our Alumni are on hand to talk you through their time here. Whether you want to find out about Freshers’ Week or applying for graduate jobs, they are happy to share their stories.

7 – Get ahead

Studies materials science, doesn't crack under pressure

Feel prepared and less scared for university life. Build your confidence, university knowledge and academic ability so you are ahead of the game when it comes to your first week… actually probably your second or third week at uni. Gotta live that freshers life right!
