Best of the North East: Couples Edition

A Picture of Tsvetelina

On these long nights and cold days, everyone needs a little something to warm them up… or a certain someone. While the sky brightens up with beautiful shades of mesmerizing pink and purple, one can really see that love is in the air in Newcastle!

Feeling all loved up and coupled? Then this one goes to you! Here are my suggestions of the best things to do in the North East when you are feeling all love-dovey with your partner.

1. Explore Tynemouth seaside

From sky gazing on the beach to having a cozy picnic, Tynemouth seaside is the perfect place to enjoy some romantic time with your lover. Its beautiful sea views and an abundance of activities on offer turn this wonderful place into Newcastle’s hidden gem for couples!

From fish and chips to fine dining, Tynemouth’s majestic seaside also offers a delicious treat for any of you wishing to romance your partner with a meal by the waves.

Tip: Always check local weather conditions before visiting Tynemouth seaside. It tends to get cold and windy near the beach, so make sure you take some blankets with you, perfect for cuddling up under!

Best time to visit: May-August, early/mid September

2. Accio Durham!

Did you know that parts of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone were filmed in nearby Durham? No? Well, now you do! Furthermore, Durham (just a short train ride away from Newcastle) is famous for its quaint cobbled streets, ancient atmosphere, breathtaking architecture, mesmerizing cathedral and even its very own Light Festival. What could be more charming?

Immerse yourself in the magic of Durham, rest assured both of you will have an enchanting time!

3. Karaoke and bowling night in Lane 7

The stage is all yours! Get your freak on and sing your hearts out in your very own karaoke booth made for two! Equipped with two professional microphones and a diverse playlist to choose from, Lane 7 provides both privacy and entertainment for all ya’ll karaoke lovers!

Plus, the place is an oasis for everything fun – with a choice of bowling, snooker or mini-golf, you are never short of fun things to try! If that is not enough, Lane 7 also offers finger lickin’ food and drinks to fill up on before getting down on the dance floor.

4. Ice skating at the Centre For Life

No matter your age or experience, in my opinion ice skating is always a good idea – especially for couples! So, grab your loved one, head to the Centre for Life and warm yourselves up by getting your skates on. Enjoy some whimsical winter-time fun whilst showing off your best “Ice Princess” moves to impress your sweetheart on the rink!
