Best places to take your parents in Newcastle

When you’re heading up to Newcastle for the first time, you might be bringing your parents and family to help with the unpacking.

Coming to a new city you might not know where to take them to say thank you, so we asked 3rd year Sophie to share some of her suggestions for the best places to take your parents in Newcastle.

1. Botanist

A really nice quirky restaurant/bar in the centre of town with amazing views of the city and around the monument. The Botanist is great for family dinners and catch ups.

2. Jesmond Dene

A place to take you parents to show the side of the city which isn’t so much like a city, a bit of green in an amongst the buildings.

3. The beach – Whitley Bay/ Tynemouth

Only twenty minutes on the Metro from the city centre and you’re at the beach, where there’s an aquarium and a great place to take the parents on a sunny day.

4. The Baltic

Both a fabulous restaurant and art gallery showcasing some really interesting works of art and the best thing is that it’s FREE!

New addition to the city and possibly the greatest. Take your parents to try the most amazing and elaborate milkshakes you have ever seen.

9. Quayside

Beautiful both during the day and at night, the Quayside is a great place to take the parents for an evening walk and a drink or two.

10. Fat Hippo

Challenge your parents to eat some of the greatest (and biggest) food you have ever seen, you won’t need to eat for a week after visiting the Fat Hippo, which is great when you’re on a student budget!
