Student discounts are one of the best things about being a student. So to help you make the most of them, here are some of the best places offering discounts in and around Newcastle!
You’re at uni, so you’re going to be doing some work right? Just as well all Newcastle University students (and staff) get a free licence for Office 365 Professional Plus. That means you get Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, Access and more, for nothing!
What’s more, the licence allows you to have 5 copies of the software so you can have it on your laptop, tablet, phone and desktop at home and still have one left over for emergencies.
That’s not the only software you can get free as a student here at Newcastle. Check out the software deals page to see what else you can get.
Looking for a bite to eat? Pop down to Quilliams on the edge of campus and get £1 off on their scran menu, which include delicious stotties and salads. There’ll probably be a queue at lunchtime – but it’ll be worth the wait!
Northern Stage, based in the middle of our city centre campus, presents the best in local, national and international theatre. Want to see work by some of the best theatre companies out there for just a tenner? Students get discounted ticket prices on most performances throughout the year.
Newcastle’s boutique bowling alley offers up more than just 10-pin bowling. With pool, ping-pong, mini golf and karaoke, not to mention to-die-for food, it’s got something for everyone. And as students you’ll get discounts on pretty much everything, including £5 bowling games any time Sunday to Wednesday.
Yes it’s true. Our Students’ Union has dis-affiliated from the NUS, which means you can’t get an NUS card. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy most of the same discounts. Discounted Spotify, Apple Music, National Express, Topshop and loads more are all available to Newcastle University students through UNiDAYS.
EAT@Newcastle are our on campus food outlets, with 14 different locations across campus. Throughout the year they offer different promotions for students and their discount card scheme allows you to collect points when visiting our cafes and redeem freebies in exchange.
You can’t beat watching a film in the art deco grandeur of Newcastle’s Tyneside Cinema, especially with their student discount that can save you up to 35% off the price of a standard ticket.
Looking for a fresh cut? Lots of local hairdressers offer student discounts. For example, Boilerhouse hair and beauty salon in Jesmond offers a great ongoing student discount. 40% off hair and 20% off beauty from Monday to Wednesday, and 20% off hair Thursday and Friday all year round. Just remember to book an appointment!
Get a real taste of the North from one of the many Greggs dotted around Newcastle. Show them your student card when you buy something and you’ll be rewarded with a free sausage roll or sweet treat!
If you prefer to eat out, head down to The Gate. Loads of the restaurants offer money off for students, such as Pizza Hut. Go grab a slice or two any night from Sunday to Thursday (excluding Bank Holidays) and get 20% off.
Next time you get your doughnut fix from Krispy Kreme in the Metro Centre or Eldon Square, show your student card to get 20% off your order.
Log on to The Uni’s Webstore to get exclusive offers and discounts for events, sports and competitions in and around the North East area. There’s everything from Theatre Royal, Newcastle Racecourse and Newcastle United, to Newcastle Falcons, Newcastle Eagles and Metro Radio Arena.
