8 Best Things To Do This Summer

Spring is here and the nights are getting lighter, which can only mean one thing: summer will soon be here! So here are some of the best things you could get up to this summer in and around Newcastle.

1. The Hoppings

Europe’s Largest Travelling Fair is back in Newcastle from 17th – 25th June. With over 300 rides and attractions on offer, you’ll have hours of fun at The Hoppings!


2. SummerTyne Americana Festival

SummerTyne Americana Festival is a sizzling celebration of Americana music at the spectacular Sage Gateshead, on the south bank of the river Tyne.


3. Eleven Arches: Kynren

Catch the UK’s most spectacular open-air live action night show since the opening of the London 2012 Olympics in country Durham this summer. It boats over 1,000 volunteers and an accompanying cast of animals, including performance horses, sheep, goats, cattle and even ducks. It’s definitely a show you don’t want to miss!


4. North Sea Tall Ships Regatta

Up to 30 of the largest and most spectacular Tall Ships in the world will sail into the Port of Blyth for a fantastic four day festival of nightly fireworks, live music and grand parades.


 5. Kielder Water and Forest Park

Whether you want to rejuvenate and relax away from the stresses of city life, or you are seeking adrenaline-fueled thrills and adventures in the great outdoors, Kielder Water & Forest Park has it all. From water skiing to mountain biking and fishing to stargazing, there’s definitely something for everyone.


6. Mouth of the Tyne Festival

Live from Tynemouth Priory & Castle, Mouth of the Tyne Festival is a four day musical extravaganza with a fantastic line-up of live acts including James Bay amd Hyde&Beast.


7. Farne Islands

Puffins, seals, artic terns, Eider ducks… there’s bountiful wildlife for you to discover on your visit to the Farne Islands. During the breeding season (May to July) the Farnes host up to 23 species of birds including around 37,000 pairs of puffins!


8. ¡VAMOS! Festival

Immerse yourself in Latin American culture at ¡VAMOS! Festival! This international festival celebrates Spanish and Portuguese cuisine, art, film, theatre, dance, music, literature, fashion, sport and education.
