Is Christmas too expensive?

As we’ve already covered, not everyone goes home for the holidays, and Christmas can have a reputation for being an expensive time of year if you want to have fun.  So for those of you who might be in the Toon over the festive period, we’ve come up with a bunch of suggestions for you to enjoy your time in the Toon on a budget:

Presents

There are plenty of options if you’re looking to get your Christmas presents on the cheap. Newcastle’s Christmas Markets held at Grey’s Monument have a whole host of unique gifts which no one else will be able to offer. How about some handmade fudge, wooly hats, or hand-crafted baubles?

Then there’s Grainger Market – full of local and independent traders offering great choice and variety!

WHAT’S ON?

You don’t need to fork out to have fun either!  There’s a lot to see and do for free! How about a festive wonder through town to check out all the Christmas decorations?

FOOD

Last but certainly not least, you just can’t get through the festive season without over-doing it on everything foodie. And with plenty of restaurants, bars and cafes across the city to cater for all budgets, you really will be spoilt for choice!
