What we all want in life is to get a bigger bang for our buck right? Nobody enjoys spending money on anything that does not prove its worth and it goes without saying that this applies to uni as well. After all, it’s one of the biggest investments we each are making during our barely-adult lives.
Well we know uni isn’t cheap, but with everything that our campus offers and provides, I definitely feel like I’m getting what I paid for and even a little bit more! Of course not everything is about the dough, these opportunities will also help shape my uni life into a well-rounded one.
These are some of my favourite sites and facilities around campus (in no specific order):
Be it just a general query about jobs, internships or if we’re just unsure how to go about starting to write a CV, the Career Service has got our back.
Meet Robinson, your best friend when deadlines and exams are near. Besides being the ‘it’ mingling spot, it also offers tons of resources and even a Liaison Team that provides subject support. The student exclusive site also allows you to access a whole load of handy e-resources!
Want to make a film but lack the equipment and software? If you’re in the School of Arts and Cultures like me, you can easily access a portal to rent a range of equipment and computer clusters. If you aren’t, speak to the helpful Culture Lab team.
Pretty sure this place needs no introduction. From a Student Advice Centre, to study spaces and PCs, our Students’ Union has it all!
An art gallery situated right on campus – need I say more? Oh, it has free entry as well! They offer various volunteering opportunities for anyone who’s interested too.
Affiliated with Hatton Gallery, the Hancock is another gem we have on our doorstep. With exhibitions that are updated frequently, there’s always something to look forward to!
A beauty on its own and hands down my favourite building on campus. Most of the original architecture remains and gives me 10,000 more reasons to love my uni.
If you haven’t heard of these spots or services, it’s time to get cracking on making every pound matter and your uni life a more wholesome one!
