Okay, it’s getting hot in here. Even up north in Newcastle. And no, it doesn’t just have to do with the fact that Nelly is coming to the Toon.
Nope. Summer has arrived, ya’ll. Hopefully, you’ve nailed your exams and you are currently laying on a golden sand beach, catching sun rays and enjoying life. But in case you aren’t, here are some suggestions on how to make the most of your summer.
A wise man once said that happiness is achieved as long as you work hard and play harder. Actually, it might have been Wiz Khalifa, but this is still a fact! Having finished a successful year in uni, you need to charge your party batteries and spice your life up.
Dance under the moonlight, go abroad, explore different cultures, try windsurfing.
My advice for best summer holiday is : travel and try something new. This trick is very simple but makes great difference. As an adrenaline junkie, last year I tried bungee jumping. Not only did it boost my mood, but my confidence as well, as it helped me overcome my fear of heights.
In short : the path to happiness is the one you have not yet stepped on.
I believe that there needs to be a balance in every part of life and summer is no exception. If you want to make the most of your summer holiday, it might be a good idea to try landing yourself an internship. This helps you stay focused during the summer and keeps you in a work-ready mode. Not only that, but it can also be extremely fun and last but not definitely not least- boost your CV.
My advice : aim high when applying for jobs/internships and try to keep them relevant to your career aspirations. You have nothing to lose and a lot to gain.
Last year I landed myself an internship in a TV station as a presenter and this transformed my summer into a very energetic experience and one full of surprises as I met some of my favourite musicians and even got to interview some of them.
Here I am as a reporter with two of my favourite Bulgarian rappers:
Despacito, quiero respirar tu cuello despacito…
Do you have an idea what the most popular summer song of 2017 is about? Well, I do. Thank you summer Spanish classes.
While I am not saying that you can learn a new language for the short period of 3 months, you can definitely develop a taste for it. While you might not have time to do so during school period, the summer vacation is an excellent time to do so.
You might even get to practice your new language skills with a foreign summer love, who knows?
My advice: I believe the best way to learn a new language is by travelling and immersing into different cultures. Which is precisely how I learned to say cheers in German : Prost to all of you!
