If you’re thinking of choosing to study here but you’re in need of a little more guidance, here are my top 5 things that influenced my decision to make Newcastle University my firm choice.
Apart from being one of 24 Russell Group universities, Newcastle University ranks 8th in the UK as one of the leading institutions for student satisfaction. 90% of students here are happy (yay!), and amongst international students, 94% said they were satisfied with the University! Let’s face it – University can be expensive. Not only can government Student Finance provide support through grants, but Newcastle University were also able to give me extra support through particular scholarships and bursaries. Without this help, I would have really struggled to manage.

The fact that students can get involved with a whole range of things here is incredible. From running in the student elections to become the next Student’s Union President, or writing for the student newspaper, Newcastle also offers programmes such as Give It A Go and Go Volunteer to get you involved. Read here about an ex student that managed to bag a grad job just from volunteering!4
Something that massively informed my decision to choose Newcastle was that the campus is in the heart of the city. Getting into town from uni is literally just a case of crossing a few roads and it’s incredibly handy when you fancy a snack between lectures!
Unfortunately we can’t all be students forever, but the careers service on campus is something any student can benefit from. Whether it’s getting your CV checked over for a part-time role or you’re looking for some last minute interview advice, the staff at King’s Gate are there for all your career-related needs, and they really as so friendly!
