How to be Single on Valentine’s

A Picture of Rebecca

As Valentine’s Day approaches, not all of us have a significant other to make lavish plans with, but fret not! Ladies and gentlemen, here’s a guide on how to rock being single in Newcastle this Valentine’s Day.

1). Go cuddle some cats

Because nothing says ‘Single on Valentine’s Day’ quite like being surrounded by half a dozen cats, why not head down to CatPawCino Café, where you can eat, drink and cuddle cats to your heart’s content.

2). Learn to Salsa

What’s more attractive than knowing how to dance? Newcastle is brimming with salsa nights for beginners and experts alike to practice their moves, so let your hair down and give it a go. For times and venues, check out Salseduce Newcastle.

3). Make your own jewellery

If no one’s going to buy you jewellery, you might as well make your own! Try your hand at silversmithing over at The Glamorous Owl, where you can join a workshop from £30 and make your own rings, bangles, earrings and more.

4). Go to an Escape Room

With no special someone to get your heart racing, how about an adrenaline rush from an exciting challenge in an Escape Room? Single or taken, this is a fun thing you can do with your mates this Valentine’s day. To book, head to Escape Newcastle.

5). Learn how to make sushi

No romantic dinner plans? Why not make your own sushi dinner for one at YO! Sushi’s Sushi School. For £30 (or £50 for two) you can walk away with a box of delicious sushi, a professional sushi rolling mat and the skills to enter any sushi lover’s heart through their stomach.

6). Go to a concert

Or, dance Valentine’s Day away at one of the handful of concerts happening this February 14th. Famous UK DJ Wilkinson is playing at the O2 Academy, as well other events by CABBAGE, Higher Power, Deadly Circus Fire and more.

7). See a play

If you’re after something a little more cultured, The Royal Shakespeare Company are showing a performance of “Twelfth Night” at the Tyneside Cinema. A tale about unrequited love, this hilarious and heart-breaking play is a Valentine’s Day winner.

8). Sing your heart out

Did someone say karaoke?! Why not head over to Cosy Joe’s and sing your heart out to all your favourite love songs about the one who got away.

So, there you go ladies and gentlemen, whether you’re coupled up or hopelessly single, there’s no reason you shouldn’t have a blast this Valentine’s Day. Get out there, have some fun and enjoy all that Newcastle has to offer!
