With the deadline for UCAS applications looming it’s been a busy month on The Student Room.
Here’s our round up of your questions and our responses from our Student Room forum in December.
Accounting and Finance is quite a popular course. If you drop a grade your application will still be considered as it will count as a “near miss” and will be sent back to the selector alongside all other near miss candiates. The selector will take a few things into consideration – but priority will go to people who put Newcastle University as their firm choice.
There isn’t a set number of places, but we usually take on about 50 students between the MPlan and BA Hons Planning courses. This year there were 53 students in Stage 1 (17 of them applied for the MPlan directly). In the past the Planning courses have gone into Clearing however all of the remaining places were filled within one day.
Here’s a timetable from a current first year student. You’ll have optional modules right from the start of the course so everyone’s timetable is slightly different depending on what options they’ve picked. You can see the list of modules currently offered for the Geography BA here.
There’s not an ‘average’ number of clubs and societies that people are involved in. Usually people sign up to eveything they’re interested in at the start of First Year to try things out then in Second Year it narrows down to 3 or 4 main ones. In Third Year people tend to stick with one of two, however it totally depends on you and your choice. You can see a list of Newcastle University’s societies here and sports clubs here.
