Things you’d never expect to find in Newcastle

There’s more to do in Newcastle than you might think! From cute to quirky and everything in between, here are some unexpected activities to try.

1. Join the circus

Looking for a creative new way to work out? At Circus Central you can get fit at the circus through aerial, tumbling and acrobatics classes.

2. Cuddle a kitten

Newcastle is now home to two cat cafes, Mog on the Tyne and CatPawCino. If you ever need a break from revision, or simply need some TLC, cuddling rescued cats whilst tucking into kitten-themed hot drinks and snacks is sure do the trick.

3. Go underground

Go deeper underground and explore Newcastle through the Victoria Tunnel. Spanning from the Town Moor to the Tyne, this 19th century waggonway was converted into an air raid shelter in World War II and now offers exclusive underground tours of the city.

4. Take the curry train

Hop on the Curry Train at Newcastle Central Station and enjoy a unique “Raj Style” escorted train service to The Valley in Corbridge, where you’ll be served a four-course à la carte meal on arrival.

5. Pull up a deckchair

Build a sandcastle or play some beach volleyball at Quayside Seaside. Each summer, one of Newcastle’s most iconic spots become a seaside paradise – so pack up your bucket and spade!

6. Dine in the sky

Fancy having a meal while being suspended 100 feet in the air? Events in the Sky are hosting breakfast, lunch and dinner over the Tyne, offering a culinary experience you definitely won’t forget!
