From the guys who did Battle of the Burger comes THAI KWONDO where 8 food vendors and restaurants will battle against one another for all things Thai! The event takes place at Wylam Brewery starting at 5pm 3 February and midday on 4th February. It’s free entry and only £3 per food portion at the vendors!
This will be the first INSIGHTS public lecture talk in the Freedom City programme and will be given by Reverend Jeffrey L Brown. The event takes place on 21st February and features an interesting talk about bringing together conflicting constituencies in civil society for peace.

Organised by the Medicine in Literature and the Arts at Newcastle Collective (MiLAN), this film festival explores health based narratives through films such as Still Alice, Wall-E and others. The event will be running from Monday 13th February to Friday 17th February in the David Shaw lecture theatre at the Medical School. Shopaholics will be pleased this month as there are two vintage fairs happening in the city. This fair has a slightly different twist as upon entry to the fair you are given a bag. Once you’ve filled your bag the staff at the event will weigh it so you can see how much you’ve spent. The clothing is only £15 per kilo so you’ll certainly be grabbing some bargains here.
The Great North Museum Hancock is putting their enormous collection of animal skeletons on show for 2017’s must see exhibition. From bats to whales there’s bones, teeth and fossils from over 100 creatures. The exhibition will run from Saturday 4th February to Sunday 14th May which gives you loads of time to get down and see a giant whale bone for yourself. With free entry there really is no excuse to miss it!
