Easter break is on, spring’s in full swing and we’ve put together a whole host of top April events to get you raring to be back on campus!

The Twisted Circus, O2 Academy


2nd April

Start your engines because the Twisted Circus is coming to town! Fresh from Drag Race and ready to sissy that walk, Ru’s most sickening queens get set to deliver a full evening of reading, realness and glittering circus performances. Don’t forget to grab an autograph before they sashay away!

Junk Fashion with the Fashion Society, Students’ Union


5th – 12th April

Our very own Fashion Society have put together another sensational show, this time with an eco-friendly twist. Hitting the catwalk for the very first time, each garment in this fabulous Zero-Waste collection has been created solely using recyclable materials found around campus. Ryan Jude Novelline, eat your heart out!

Gateshead International Jazz Festival, Sage Gateshead


6th – 8th April

If jazz is your bag then let Sage Gateshead break it down for you this April. Join fellow enthusiasts as some of the greatest jazz artists from around the globe lay down a crazy beat or two at this annual three day festival.

Gateshead Comic-Con


8th April

Love comics, games and all things geek? Then don your best homemade Stormtrooper suit and hop across the Tyne where you’ll find yourself in your element at Gateshead Comic-Con! Enjoy games, workshops, contests and even one or two sci-fi celebs. Best. Day out. Ever.

X Factor Auditions, Students’ Union


16th April

Fancy yourself as the next Cheryl Cole? Then get ready to hit those high notes, as the annual X Factor auditions rock up in our very own Students’ Union this month. Simon’s little helpers will be here taking private auditions, so get perfecting your pitch and you could be gracing the stage at Wembley one day too!

Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella, Theatre Royal


17th – 28th April

Set in London during the Second World War, join Cinderella and her dashing young RAF pilot prince as they battle the odds to find true love. Featuring beautiful music, incredible performances and stunning costumes, Bourne’s sparkling adaptation of this age old fairy tale promises to be a dazzling spectacle theatre goers won’t soon forget.

Blue Reef Aquarium Visit, Tynemouth


21st April

Journey beneath the waves and discover an underwater world with Give it a Go this April as they head to Tynemouth seaside. From sharks and rays to finding Nemo, Blue Reef is home to tens of thousands of fishy friends that can’t wait to meet you!

Live music, stylish surroundings and a tasty new brunch menu? Yes please! Even better, for the very first time The Botanist are treating us to make it bottomless, meaning you can fill up on a hearty Full English or bite into Buttermilk Pancakes with maple glazed bacon to your hearts content before washing it all down with bottomless bubbles from the bar. Hot Pod Yoga, West Jesmond


29th April

Nothing feels better than a refreshing yoga session, so why not take it up a notch with Give it a Go and try Hot Pod Yoga? These inflatable, cocoon-like pods heat up to a toasty 37°C, allowing for better flexibility – not to mention restoring calm and clarity to the mind whilst working off a few extra (Easter egg induced) pounds!
