With the holidays just around the corner and longer, lighter evenings on the horizon; it’s time to spring into action and enjoy one or two of these top Toon events…

Nowt Special 9, Tynebank Brewery

2nd March

If you like your art with an edge, head to trendy Tynebank Brewery and hobnob with over 25 up and coming artists specialising in tattoos, graffiti, design, illustration and photography. Be inspired by a full day of live art, graffiti, DJ’s and street food, before browsing the stalls for one-off pieces and limited edition prints to spruce up your digs.

Or, pop along on the 17th for Tynebank’s very first Dog Social! Whether you’re missing your four-legged friend from home or just love all things doggo, surround yourself in an abundance of playful pups for the day. Complete with fresh coffee, doughnuts and local artist, Laura Mary Art, whipping up pet portraits.

TEDx 2019 Conference, Newcastle University

3rd March

This year’s conference will see 10 speakers take the stage as they share their vision for what the future should be. Join us for a memorable day of networking and possibilities as we explore ideas that are truly worth sharing.

Transatlantic Beer Week, By The River Brew Co.

4th – 10th March

Located just underneath the Tyne Bridge and offering incredible views of the Quayside, there’s no better place to while away an evening than at By The River Brew Co. Head there during Transatlantic Beer Week and enjoy tip top craft beers all the way from NYC in this picture-perfect setting.

Or, if you prefer your artisan ales with a drop of science, head to Wylam Brewery’s Palace of Science event for a celebration of scientific research happening throughout the North East.

Popular student hangout, Jam Jar is ramping up the fun for Pancake Day. Take on their (so far unbeaten!) maple syrup-soaked challenge of 10 pancakes in 10 minutes for your chance to win a free meal on your next visit.

Trainspotting, Northern Stage

5th – 7th March

Your ticket to a ride you won’t soon forget. In Your Face Theatre’s immersive adaptation invites the audience into the action, perfectly recapturing the passion, humour and controversy of Irvine Welsh’s cult novel. Enjoy it right here on campus at Northern Stage.

This Girl Can, Exhibition Park

7th March

This Girl Can are taking to Exhibition Park for their third annual International Women’s Day event and it’s set to be bigger and better than ever before. This year’s theme is UV so, slap on some luminous paint and join the festivities with a 5k (or 1 mile) fun walk, jog or run in celebration of active women – don’t forget your glow sticks!

Boiler Shop Emporium, Boiler Shop

Sunday 10th March

Luxury farmers market meets lazy Sunday afternoon at Boiler Shop this month, with the finest bakers, veg growers, small batch distillers and even a gent’s barber, all flocking to this quirky Grade II* listed setting. Get ready to enjoy great food, guest chefs and a buzzing atmosphere!

15th March

Boasting to be the cheesiest event in the North East this year, enjoy a wide variety of your favourite fromages as they’re grilled, baked and stretched to perfection by a host of local and national street food vendors.

From artisan cheeses to mac ‘n cheeses, there’ll be cheese to suit all tastes, alongside a spread of the finest DJs, live bands and interactive entertainment; for a guaranteed gouda time, you’d feta not miss it!

CatPawCino Cat Café, Quayside

21st March

Escape to an oasis of calm amid the hustle and bustle of Newcastle’s busy city centre with Give it a Go’s CatPawCino visit. Enjoy a hot drink (included in the price of your ticket) and taking in views over the River Tyne as the café’s seven resident kitties scamper around your feet. An absolute must for fans of furry, feline friends!

Enjoy demonstrations, snap up one-off pieces or even have a go at creating your very own masterpiece!
