The days are getting colder, the nights are drawing in and we’ve unearthed a whole host of top events across the city to brighten your October!

Halloween Events, Newcastle Castle – 20 – 31 October

Join a terrifying, theatrical tour of the castle’s passageways and chambers or immerse yourself in an apocalyptic scenario barricaded in the main hall. Dating back more than 1800 years, Newcastle Castle is steeped in horrible histories you won’t want to miss this Halloween!

Juice Festival, various locations – 20-28 October 

Follow the creative young minds of our city for nine days of events, activities, performances and exhibitions all put together by, for and with under-25s. From a Circus in the City to the Just Jam Battle Finals there’s something for everyone; and many events are completely free!

Craft Beer Calling, Wylam Brewery – 26 – 28 October


Whether it’s the hoppy allure of craft beer or simply the mention of beer at all, Wylam is a picture perfect venue to enjoy sampling a huge selection from some of the world’s top craft breweries.

Newcastle Oktoberfest, Times Square – 26-29 October

Think lederhosen, bratwurst, pretzels and schnitzel as Times Square brings the best of Bavaria to Newcastle. Pull up a bench, grab a stein and join the fun – Prost!

The Suggestibles, The Stand Comedy Club – Various dates though October 

With over 10 years’ side-splitting experience, The Suggestibles return once more to The Stand Comedy Club this October with their fast-paced, laugh-a-minute improv show. Expect stories, skits, songs and most of all, the unexpected!

Freedom on the Tyne – 29 October 

As part of Freedom City 2017 a great drama is set to sweep our city’s streets in an eclectic mix of theatre, music, dance and art. Celebrating key civil rights moments in history, commemorating the courage of those involved and culminating in a show-stopping display of light, sound and theatre that’ll bring the city to a standstill!

NECCR Big Walk – 14 October

With this year’s Great North Run behind us, satisfy those itchy feet and take to the picturesque pathways of Blagdon Estate for a 3, 6 or 9 mile sponsored walk to help more children beat cancer. Plus, all walkers receive a Big Walk certificate and limited edition souvenir, not bad for a Saturday morning’s work!

Top of the Monument Tour – 18 October
