There’s definitely a chill around campus at the moment. Luckily for us, North East’s own, Barbour, are returning to campus with their highly anticipated sample sale. Think lower than low prices and excellent quality clothing just in time for Christmas. Don’t forget your student card!
What’s better than Christmas? Christmas with puppies of course! This December, join NUSU at Newcastle’s popular Dog and Scone Café will be opening its doors for a festive-filled event with Christmas costumes, festive treats and, of course, their resident pups. You can enjoy a festive hot drink and dessert whilst in ultimate dog heaven. What could be better?
Do your bit this Christmas and join the Help the Homeless Society in their annual shoebox appeal for those in crisis. Come along to support local charities such as Shelter North East and Destiny’s Streetworx, with fellow Newcastle University students, societies, sports teams and staff, and help sort and wrap boxes for those who need it most.
If Newcastle’s city markets aren’t satisfying your needs alone, fear not because nearby seaside town, Tynemouth, has their own! Whilst the markets have been open since late November, NUSU are offering an exclusive trip for students via minibus. So, you can avoid the Metro, buy unique Christmas gifts and tuck into some delicious fish and chips all at the same time!

For one night only, feast your eyes on the mischievous characters and puppetry of the award-winning Life and Limb Puppets, offering an incredible production for all ages. God bless us every one!

Whether you’re after a new Christmas party outfit or some sustainable gifts for loved ones, come for a good ol’ rummage and expect quirky, original pieces from the 60’s onwards. Who knows what you might find!

Ice skating around Christmas time? It would be rude not to. All the way through December, the Centre for Life’s famous ice rink will be open for business where you can skate with your mates, every day of the week from 11am-6pm. If you’ve not already ticked this one off your list, Newcastle’s ice rink is definitely one for December so wrap up warm and get your skates on!
Experience a pantomime like never before right here on campus… At Impro Pantso you can still expect kooky panto characters and a “He’s behind you” chorus but with added sprinkles of naughtiness and adult-humour throughout. This quirky “improv” performance will be celebrating its 12th year in 2019, so strap yourself in and get ready for a laugh.
This NYE, come along to Newcastle’s hottest destination, STACK, and join them for the newest craze; Kroud Karaoke. Are you a sucker for karaoke but hate getting up in the spotlight alone? Well this event may just be for you because Karaoke here is done together! Expect STACK’s usual local food vendors and Hadrian’s Tipi with a twist as you get ready to sing your way into 2020.
Love the Quayside? Then why not welcome the new decade down at the banks of the River Tyne? Enjoy a full firework display against the spectacular backdrop of the mighty Tyne Bridge and expect an all-round good time with the friendly people of Newcastle.
