Plus, don’t miss bagging a unique masterpiece at Central Station and Grainger Market’s monthly art markets. 

Nowt Special, Tynebank Brewery


3 – 4th February

If you like your art a little more edgy, head to Tynebank Brewery and hobnob with over 25 up and coming artists specialising in tattoos, graffiti, design, illustration and photography. Be inspired by a full day of live art, graffiti, DJ’s and pizza, before browsing the stalls for one-off pieces and limited edition prints to spruce up your digs.

Argentine Tango Dance Taster 


5th February

From the outskirts of Buenos Aires, to the students of Newcastle University! The Argentine Tango is unquestionably one of the steamiest partner dances out there, and this month, Give it a Go are offering a free taster session.

Join our experienced instructor Irene as she guides you into the rhythm and teaches you the skills you’ll need to improvise your own jaw-droppingly fierce dance routine with your partner. So, there’ll be no excuse not to bust a move next time you’re out in the Bigg Market. Olé!

Postgraduate Open Day


7th February

Thinking of going in to further study? Then come along to our Open Day for a taste of postgraduate student life in Newcastle! With more campus tours, application tips and careers support on hand than you can shake a stick at, it’s a must for anyone considering further study.

Tall Trees Adventure, Beamish Wild


11th February

Thrill seekers rejoice! Give it a Go are giving you the opportunity to swing through the trees with zip-wires, rope-bridges and swinging tires at Beamish’s adrenaline pumping High Ropes Course. Battle your way through the woodland assault course as it slowly creeps higher, before reaching the day’s climax in the form of a 35ft free fall leap of faith from the tree tops!

Cupcake Baking & Decorating, Pudding Parlour 


12th February

Give it a Go will be chasing their sweet tooth all the way to Prudhoe for this tasty cupcake masterclass. We’ll be heading up north to Pudding Parlour HQ to learn how to mix, pipe and buttercream these sweet treats to perfection. Remember, you can never have too many sprinkles!

Ever wanted to know how to give yourself a flawless makeover? Well, now’s your chance with Give it a Go’s Makeup Masterclass! Watch and learn as the professionals teach you the tricks of the trade, before handing back to try and recreate the look on yourself.

15th February

Love it or hate it, the Angel has become an iconic part of the North East’s skyline, welcoming us home from trips down South for exactly 20 years this February. To celebrate our beloved artwork leaving its teenage years behind, Gateshead Council will be hosting themed events, exhibitions and workshops throughout the year.

Why not use the opportunity to pop along and pay the Angel a visit? As one of the most photographed landmarks in the UK, it’s a worthy addition to any Instagram feed!

Lunar New Year 


16th February

Join residents of the Toon in welcoming the year of the Dog with a dazzling array of themed crafts, dance, martial arts, food, drink and games. Featuring a grand parade through the city centre, complete with floats, drummers and dances of the dragon, lion and unicorn. Furthermore, following a successful crowdfunding campaign, this year’s celebrations are set to be bigger and shinier than ever before!

Fire & Ice, Durham


16th – 17th February

A trip to the charming cobbled streets of Durham is never a bad thing, and in particular when they’re adorned with a magical trail of ice sculptures, illuminated by flaming beacons!

See your favourite literary characters brought to life in wondrous sculptures hand-carved by the very same creators of the ice sets on Game of Thrones! Then, get ready to “Ooh” and ‘”Ahh” as the three day event closes with a spectacular multimedia show of music, fire and water.

Crazy Golf: Lost World Adventure 


24th February

Oh we do like to be beside the seaside, oh we do like to play dinosaur-themed mini golf by the sea! Join Give it a Go, as our dedicated team of student ambassadors get set to whisk you away to Tynemouth for a big dino day out by the waves. Plus, a day at the coast wouldn’t be complete without a hearty fish and chip supper.
