New Year’s Eve in Newcastle

2014… the year of the Scottish Referendum, Ice Bucket Challenge, that Oscar selfie and the Brazilian World Cup. So before we welcome in 2015, let’s give this year the send-off it deserves! And with one of the greatest social scenes in the country here in Newcastle, why would you even consider going anywhere else?

WINTER CARNIVAL PARADE

Kicking off from 4pm, the celebrations begin as hundreds of participants and performers bring the city centre to life. You can then follow the carnival parade down to the Quayside, dancing en route. With a 6pm and a midnight fireworks display TO MUSIC, what better way to bring in the new year than a spectacular light show?

RIVER CRUISE

Why not sail into the New Year on a boat cruise? With the River Tyne running through the heart of the toon, take in the magical city lights as the backdrop of your unique party in Newcastle.

ALNWICK GARDENS

Music, a Hog Roast Carvery, party games, a DJ and street entertainment amount to celebrating New Year in style, all set in the glorious grounds of Alnwick Gardens. The highlight of the evening will be a spectacular fire and light show by the world famous Flame Oz. With tightly choreographed fire dancing, juggling and fire eating, the group promise to deliver a unique and exciting show.

A NIGHT OUT IN THE TOON

With a whole catalogue of bars, restaurants and clubs, Newcastle really is one of the best cities in the UK to spend your New Year. Whether you’re after upmarket bars and chic cocktails on Collingwood Street, the traditional pubs and nightclubs of The Bigg Market or something a bit alternative in Ouseburn, there’s something for everyone!

STAY IN IN STYLE

But if you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of New Year in the city, sometimes staying in with friends can be the greatest fun! Either with a house party or Jools Holland’s Hogmanay, getting Big Ben’s bongs blasting out your TV and that never-quite-right rendition of Auld Lang Syne are all part of the festivities.
