Top 5 ways to plan for a UCAS fair

Attending a Higher Education Fair this year? You might have seen from our previous posts that there’s plenty to do on the day – but how can you prepare to ensure you make the most of a UCAS fair? That’s where we’re here to help!

Having a quick look at the universities that will be attending the fair and whether or not they offer the course you’re interested in will save you a whole lot of time finding out on the day. Check out the UCAS website where you can search where your chosen course is offered!

TOP TIP: Why not make a Top 10 list of the universities that offer your course, for more direction on the day and maximum quizzing time!

Maybe an obvious pointer but how are you planning to get to the fair? Are you heading there alone, with your parents or with school? Getting the logistics sorted before the day will save a lot of faff.

Make a list of everything that you want from a university, rank it, and use as a comparison during the fair. What’s more important to you; a top sports scene or having modern accommodation? A cracking nightlife or high rankings in the league tables? You could even rate every uni for each category if you really want to get technical!

Be prepared and have a think about what kind of questions you’d like to ask the universities you’re interested in. That way you’ll make the most of your time at the fair and come away feeling enlightened!

  1. How far away is campus from the city?
  2. Is there a student newspaper I could get involved with?
  3. What’s the accommodation like?

It’s definitely worth checking out the event programme on the UCAS website to see what seminars are running that might be of interest. That way you can plan your time around exactly what you want to do!
